Field Visit to the Naval Air base and a Naval Ship

The second year and third year students from the department of Journalism and Mass Communication were given an opportunity to visit two restricted Naval areas- INS DEGA (Naval air base) and INS KAMORTA (Naval ship) on 20th August 2022.

Post COVID-19, this is the first time that the Eastern Naval Command permitted any visitors due to security issues. The students got an opportunity to meet women officers at INAS DEGA who showed and explained about the working of various Naval aircrafts such as Hawks, Dorniers, Chetak helicopters, Kamovs, the newly inducted P-8Is, microlight aircrafts and so on.

It was a moment of intense pride when they met the men and women flying and operating these aircrafts and they also got a chance to interact with them at length especially about how to join the Armed Forces and what are the different options through which they could join the same.

At INS KAMORTA, the students got a chance to understand the functioning of a ship when at sea and interacted with the Commanding Officer and Executive officer who explained the functioning of the ship and what were its main tasks when at sea.
